Information

INFORMATION: Captain Frye, a certified law enforcement officer in North Carolina, is retiring from the Carrboro Police Department. According to NCGS 20-187.2, retiring officers are entitled to request to purchase their service weapon from the Town. Captain Frye has opted to exercise this right and has submitted a request to purchase his on-duty handgun. In the past, the Carrboro Town Council has honored retiring officers by granting them their service sidearms at no cost, as a gesture of gratitude for their service. This practice aligns with the policy established by the Council on January 30, 2024.

RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Council approve the attached resolution.
