Request to Waive Fees for the CASA Affordable Housing Project

INFORMATION: The Board of Aldermen sent a request to the Affordable Housing Advisory Commission to review the Town’s existing policy on waiving fees for affordable housing projects (Attachment 1) and make to recommendations on streamlining the process. Staff presented a proposed draft policy to the AHAC at the regular meeting on 2/28. The AHAC made the following recommendation, to encourage the Board of Aldermen to move forward and approve the request to waive building and development permit fees for the CASA project, and allow the AHAC additional time to develop a policy recommendation. CASA’s request to waive fees are included as Attachments 2 and 3. Also attached is a draft resolution for the Board’s consideration (Attachment 4).
FISCAL & STAFF IMPACT: Staff has estimated the value of the requested fee waive is $30,453.00
RECOMMENDATION:r Staff recommends the Board consider the request to waive fees.
