This agenda item relates to the provision of emergency operations and emergency response services for the Town of Carrboro.

Information

INFORMATION: Orange County, the Town of Chapel Hill, the Town of Hillsborough, and the Town of Carrboro desire to have a qualified contractor develop a comprehensive emergency operations plan. Interoperability between the County and Towns during response to an emergency is imperative from a planning, response, and recovery standpoint, and the plan will assist with identifying roles, responsibilities, and expectations of each agency.

Fiscal and Staff Impact

FISCAL IMPACT: Each party will pay a portion of the costs of this service. Carrboro will pay approximately 17% of the total costs, not to exceed $30,000.

Recommendation

RECOMMENDATION: Town Staff recommends the Town Council approve the attached resolution (Attachment A) to authorize the Town Manager to enter into an interlocal agreement (Attachment B) with Orange County, the Town of Chapel Hill, and the Town of Hillsborough for the development of a comprehensive emergency operations plan.
