TITLE: Title
Proposed Carrboro Mural Project - Jones Ferry Road and Highway 54

PURPOSE: The purpose of this item is for Michael Adamson to present the final rendition of the proposed Carrboro Mural on the existing retaining wall at the intersection of Jones Ferry Road and Highway 54. The Board will also receive comments from the public regarding the proposed design.

INFORMATION: Mr. Adamson presented the concept of the mural at the Board of Aldermen's April 8th, 2014 meeting and the Board of Aldermen approved the resolution to endorse this project. Mr. Adamson followed up by presenting an update of the project to the Board of Aldermen on December 2nd, 2014.
Below is a timeline of the steps of this project to date:

1. January 21st, 2015- town staff submits the preliminary application to the NCDOT district engineer in Graham. This preliminary application was forwarded to the Right-Of-Way committee for review.
2. May 13th, 2015- Received email from NCDOT district engineer that Right-Of-Way committee would be reviewing application at May 19th, 2015 meeting.
3. May 11th, 2015- Carrboro Arts Committee approved the final rendition of the mural.
4. May 25th, 2015- Received comments from the Right-Of-Way Committee in regard to the proposed mural.
5. September 2015- Resubmit final application to NCDOT district engineer in Graham and this will be forwarded to Right-Of-Way committee for final review.

The Board of Aldermen will receive comments from the public regarding the proposed design on September 1, 2015.


FISCAL & STAFF IMPACT: It is estimated that approximately 5 staff hours will be required for the Planning and Public Works Department to prepare the final application to NCDOT for the proposed mural.
