INFORMATION: For the past three years, the Planning Board has organized a series of three outreach sessions in October to help support National Community Planning Month. Each series has been designed to focus on a current planning topic of local interest. The first year targeted affordable housing; the second provided an overview of zoning and how it affects land uses. The third year addressed topics relating to climate change in preparation for the climate action committee's task force's development of a community climate action plan.
For this year's project, October 2015, the Planning Board decided to go in a different direction. Noting the fifteenth anniversary of the adoption of Carrboro Vision2020, the Town's principle guiding document, the Planning Board saw an opportunity to tap into the collective knowledge all of its advisory board members to provide a technical review based on each board's specific expertise. Copies of the cover memorandum shared with the advisory boards to request their assistance along with the assemblage of their final comments are attached (Attachment B and Attachment C). As described in the memo, the purpose of the analysis was to evaluate the Town's progress toward the goals and directions outlined in Vision2020, to note where goals have been accomplished, where more effort is needed and where goals should be revised or even abandoned.
