Bias Free Policing Report
PURPOSE: The purpose of this item is to provide an update on the Carrboro Police Department’s efforts toward Bias-free policing.

INFORMATION: Recently with national and local incidents involving police there have been concerns raised on how bias influences policing in certain areas, such as searches, arrest, and use of force. To address these concerns, the Carrboro Police Department has taken steps to ease these concerns. Some of these steps include mandatory implicit bias training implementation of a bias-free policing policy, hiring of crime analyst to monitor and benchmark aggregate data.

RECOMMENDATION:r Staff recommends Board receive and accept report.
