Request to Make Appointments to the Planning Board
PURPOSE: The purpose of this agenda item is for the Board of Aldermen to make appointments to the Planning Board.

INFORMATION: The Planning Board currently has three expiring term seats available for appointment. Catherine Adamson is the chair of the Planning Board and has provided the chair forms for the Board's consideration.

There are only three incumbent seats available for appointment. Andrew Whittemore, Catherine Adamson and Susan Poulton have expiring terms and have all three submitted applications for reappointment. Catherine Adamson is the chair and Andrew Whittemore serves as the 2nd vice chair. Susan Poulton holds the seat for the Transition Area.

Catherine Adamson recommended that four names for consideration of appointment to the Board of Aldermen. Those are: Andrew Whittemore, Susan Poulton, Quinton Harper, and David Arneson. Susan Poulton holds the Transition Area seat on the Planning Board and is the only applicant that is qualified to be appointed to that seat based on residency requirements.

Quinton Harper has stated that he is willing to serve on either the Planning Board or on the Human Services Commission and would like the Board of Aldermen to decide where he is needed the most.
Total applications were received from: Catherine Adamson, David Arneson, Linda Bowerman, Quinton Harper, Will Heflin, Susan Poulton, Alison Saloman, Bruce Sinclair, Stephen Whitlow, and Andrew Whittemore.
Ballots will be provided for the Board of Aldermen on Tuesday night. After the votes are tallied, a motion to appoint the candidates with the highest number of ballot votes should be made for official action.
The attached resolution will make appointments to the Planning Board as directed by the Board of Aldermen.
