A Request to Set a Public Hearing on the Temporary Street Closing Permit Application for the 2017 Town of Carrboro - Summer Streets Events.
PURPOSE: The purpose for this meeting is to set a public hearing for a Street Closing Permit Application submitted by the Town of Carrboro for the temporary closing and usage of Weaver street from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on June 18th, July 16th, and August 28th, to accommodate the 2017 Summer Streets Events.

INFORMATION: Town staff has solicited local non-profits to host the event. June 18th is hosted by the OC Literacy Council and the OC Partnership for Young Children with reading and literacy theme. El Centro will host the August event for the second year by incorporating their annual Latino Festival. Staff is still seeking a host for the July event.
Town staff will close Weaver St from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
In accordance with Section 7-19 of the Town Code, a Public Hearing to receive public input prior to issuing a Street Closing Permit is required for this event. The public hearing will be held on May 23, 2017.
FISCAL & STAFF IMPACT: Town of Carrboro Public Works and Police staff will be utilized to set up and maintain the required street closures.
RECOMMENDATION:r It is recommended that the Board approve the attached resolution setting a public hearing for May 23, 2017.
