Request to Support DACA Beneficiaries in Carrboro

The US Department of Homeland Security announced that it will phase out the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Certain beneficiaries are eligible to request renewal; these requests must be received by October 5. Other beneficiaries are ineligible to request renewal and may become subject to deportation. The purpose of this agenda item is for the Board to consider methods of providing assistance to DACA beneficiaries in Carrboro who are submitting renewal requests and/or seeking related legal services. A draft resolution or other materials for the Board's consideration will be disseminated before the meeting.
