Update on Funding Status of the Orange County Food Council.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this item is to follow-up on the Board’s request for the staff to develop a funding process for Orange County Food Council and similar organizations that address systemic/institutional social changes.

INFORMATION: Last year during the Human Services application review process, the Board directed staff to pull Orange County Food Council from consideration for Human Services budget and to fund the OCFC from other sources. Subsequently, the Board had a conversation about providing direction to the Human Services Advisory Board on funding priorities and directed staff to develop a process for funding organizations that address social change issues that are systemic/institutional in nature.
This report includes an update from the Orange County Food Council and their work with Orange County in the past year to establish a permanent source of funding. Attached are proposed budget requests to Orange County.
Staff has discussed developing a funding process separate from Human Services for funding organizations that address social change like the OCFC. Due to the broad nature of this subject and current budgetary constraints staff recommends the Board consider these types of request on a case-by-case basis.
FISCAL & STAFF IMPACT: Contingent on board approval.
RECOMMENDATION:r Staff recommends the Board hear the request/update from the OCFC and if the Board chooses to fund the request, that it be contingent on secured funding from the County and other Towns. Also, to continue to consider these types of request on a case-by-case basis.
