INFORMATION: The Homestead Road-Chapel Hill High School Multi-Use Path (CHCHS-MUP) is nearing completion. The extended construction period has led to additional costs in engineering and project oversight, including CEI services. Payment for additional surveying work for the contractor is also needed.

The Town receives an annual allotment of Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) funds to use toward transportation planning, but took advantage of an opportunity for the FY2019 cycle to earmark a portion of those funds for capital project expenditures. A total of $194,660 is available: $155,728 in federal funds and $38,932 in local (20%) match. The Town could request an amendment to the TIP to reallocate these funds to the CHCHS-MUP project.

An updated Capital Improvement Project Ordinance is provided to reflect the updated expenditures described below:
Engineering Services - Design - The Board approved an increase in engineering design services on November 24, 2015, but the CIP ordinance was not updated to reflect the change. The current request would increase the engineering services contract from $176,185 to $179,798.
Construction - Contractor - $1,060,480 to $1,249,919.
