INFORMATION: On February 11, 2020, the Town Council received a presentation of the SRTP from Brian Litchfield, Chapel Hill Transit Director: <https://carrboro.legistar.com/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=4327994&GUID=F8443083-9C00-4792-9A1C-2400776E114B&Options=&Search=>

Chapel Hill Transit (CHT) held public information sessions in Chapel Hill and at UNC-CH in January and February.  Carrboro public information sessions were held on February 10th and February 19th at Town Hall and on February 13th at Carolina Spring Senior Apartments (for residents only).

On February 25th, CHT will present the final SRTP to the Transit Partners Committee and ask for their endorsement.  Since the Transit Partners are reviewing the final SRTP on the same day as the Town Council meeting, CHT will provide a summary document outlining any updates to the SRTP for the Council’s review on the afternoon of February 25th.  This document will be delivered via email.  CHT is requesting the Council endorse the final SRTP.

It is anticipated that the Chapel Hill Town Council will consider approving the SRTP in early March.  If approved, implementation of the SRTP is scheduled for August 2020.

FISCAL & STAFF IMPACT: The Short Range Transit Plan is intended to be cost neutral, with no expectation of additional funding from the Transit Partners.

RECOMMENDATION:r Staff recommends the Town Council consider endorsing the Short Range Transit Plan.  A resolution is provided as Attachment A.
