2020 Street Resurfacing Contract Authorization and Project Ordinance

PURPOSE:  The purpose of this item is to provide the Council with the bid results of the 2020 Resurfacing Project and to authorize the award of the project to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder and establish a project ordinance.

INFORMATION: The Public Works Department evaluated the condition of all Town streets and sidewalks, the results of this evaluation were shared with the Council in November 2019.  Utilizing this information, staff along with the consulting engineer, LaBella Associates, developed a project manual and bid package for resurfacing and repair of Town streets and sidewalks.  This bid package was advertised on March 8, 2020 and a public bid opening was held on March 24, 2020.  The bid results are included in Attachment C - Bid Tabulation.  

 

FISCAL & STAFF IMPACT: The fiscal impact for the resurfacing project will be $967,081.00; which will be funded from Powell Bill revenues, and transfers from the General Fund and Capital Reserve Fund.  There will be staff impacts associated with project management and inspections for this project.  

 

RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the Council approve the attached project ordinance and resolution, awarding the contract to Carolina Sunrock LLC.
