Council Direction Statement
In 1995, the Town entered into an agreement to clarify the annexation limits of both Towns, to minimize splitting properties between the Towns and complicating land use permit approvals, and to codify principles of protection for the entranceways to the Towns along Smith Level Road. Racial Equity Pocket questions will be completed for the public hearing in April.
Information: As part of the Joint Planning Agreement between Carrboro, Chapel Hill, and Orange County, the Towns agreed upon an annexation boundary. The agreement was approved in June 1995 and the 20-year term has lapsed. Renewal of the agreement is proposed without changes. The proposed schedule includes:
RTS Public Hearing - Carrboro March 28
RTS Public Hearing - Chapel Hill March 22
Planning Board Review- Chapel Hill April 14
Planning Board Review - Carrboro April 13
Public Hearing - Carrboro April 18
Public Hearing- Chapel Hill April 21
A resolution setting a public hearing is included as Attachment A.
