Council Direction Statement

Council has commissioned the original study to determine demand for downtown parking and explore opportunities for solutions.

Information

INFORMATION: An outline of the discussion topics for the parking study item is included in Attachment A, Section I.

This item provides a copy of the original Parking Study completed by Walker Consultants (Attachment B), an update from the latest parking counts taken in November 2022 (Attachment C), a summary of the Advisory Board comments on the key recommendations of the study (Attachment D), and informational documentation regarding Municipal Service Districts in North Carolina (Attachment E & F). Staff will make a short presentation quickly summarizing the parking study and updated counts prior to discussion.

FISCAL IMPACT: Varied - it will depend on which recommendations Council chooses to proceed with.
